Membership of the Harris Co. Reform Party - An open letter
Dear Fellow Reformers,
As you are all well aware, the Reform effort was devastated in the last election cycle - especially here in Texas. A recounting of the particulars is not necessary nor will we ever know all of them. The only things that matter are that RPTX must be rebuilt and that our recovery is underway. That is the good news, and Im excited that you have decided to be part of the process. It cant happen without you.
The bad news is that we, and other State Party Organizations, are being called upon to go to National Convention in Denver CO in a matter of a few short weeks. This isnt convenient nor is it terribly helpful to RPTX. We have better things to do for Reform here at home. But for many reasons it is essential that RPTX be seated at this event and participate in it. There is a lot to say about this, but there is no space here for it. Suffice it to say that if we do not take steps to influence this convention, staying home instead, the event will likely have a negative influence on our work here later.
Im going. My wife is going even though she is recovering from a bout with cancer. David Collison, your Chairman, is going. We will all have Delegate duties and we need for all of you to volunteer to fill Delegate slots too. That is what it has come to. There is no one to take your place. We need to double our current voting strength at least.
Please call David as soon as possible to let him know if you can make the trip. There is an initial deadline for filing of Delegate rosters at August 5. (This was sprung on us just a few days ago.) A supplemental list can be submitted a little over a week later, but the sooner you can get your info to him, the better. If you would like to talk with me about this too, please feel free to call or e-mail me. One note: my e-mail address will change in a few days to zap88@mesh.net .
Thanks & Best Regards
