Reform Party of Harris County
The Centrist Choice!

About the RPHC

Who We are:

The Reform Party of Harris County is a grassroots organization dedicated to providing a Centrist political organization for residents of Harris County and surrounding communities. The RPHC believes the key to a great nation is a honest, ethical, citizen-based government.

Mission:

We, the members of the Reform Party of Harris County, are determined to set a higher ethical standard for Harris County elected officials by making our elected officials adhere to standards of honesty, integrity, openness to diversity of opinion and open debate. We resolve to accomplish our mission through political activism and election of individuals who hold the interests of citizens, not corporations, PACS, or other special interests.

Who is Involved:

People just like you! We are not the radical right or the liberal left. These extreme views held by the other parties have left a void in the center of the ideological spectrum. We are the people in that center who are tired of not having a voice in our government. We realize that strength is in numbers and the only way our voice will be heard is if we unite as a party with other citizens just like you!

What is a Centrist?

First off, a Centrist is not a moderate.  A Centrist means that the person has strong political views (and may be conservative or liberal on one or more issues).  The net result is that their views put them somewhere in the middle of the political spectrum between the typical liberal or conservative.  A good example would be a person that was a conservative about government spending, but not on social matters.  Basically, being a Centrist can be defined by a resistance to "polarizing" on wedge social issues to the same conservative/liberal side, as the Democrats and Republicans want us to do.  Instead, Centrists seek more practicality in their political views.

As a person can be "Centrist" while holding some conservative and some liberal views, our organization is Centrist in terms of it having some members who are more conservative or more liberal in their views.  We don’t “flip flop” on issues, but we believe in open discussion and debate to define our positions, not political sound-bites that just sound good.

It is our argument that we are typical of the independent voter, somewhere between the rhetorical stances of the Democrats and Republicans, or even outside the typical stances of those two parties.  We are the voters who are, election after election, forced to look at the two major party candidates and shake our heads sadly.  Sadly, because we realize that neither of them represent what our nation really needs, but are merely caricatures of one or more extremes, candy-coated with middle-of-the-road rhetoric.
